Knicks Pull Away From Nets 103-90 as Shamet Rescues a Flat Night and Bridges Slumps
Landry Shamet scored a season-high 22 and the Knicks' fourth-quarter push beat Brooklyn 103-90 ahead of Wednesday's home game against the Bulls.

The New York Knicks spent three quarters struggling against Brooklyn on Monday night, then pulled away in the fourth for a 103-90 win at Madison Square Garden. It was their 15th straight win over the Nets, ESPN noted, and it evened out a week that had started with a road loss in Philadelphia. New York is now 3-4.
The player who kept them in it came off the bench. Landry Shamet scored a season-high 22 points, a mark NBC New York also highlighted, going 4-of-6 from three and making every free throw. In its player grades, SB Nation pointed to the third quarter as the turning point. Josh Hart picked up his fourth foul, Shamet replaced him at the 8:44 mark, and his two threes late in the period cut Brooklyn's lead to one and then got the Knicks back within 77-75.
Hart returned for the fourth and made a difference without scoring much. He finished with 8 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals and was a team-best plus-22. He also hit a three, set up consecutive OG Anunoby threes and turned a Julius Randle pass into a breakaway layup. Anunoby scored 18, going 7-of-8 at the line, and his threes at 10:29 and 28 seconds later pushed the lead to 84-79. Jordan Clarkson added 7 points in 11 minutes, including a block and a transition three that stretched the margin to 10. Afterward, Mike Brown called the veteran guard "the definition of ultimate pro," according to SB Nation.
The starters had a mixed night. Karl-Anthony Towns grabbed 16 rebounds but didn't score in the first half, and he finished with 11 points on 4-of-11 shooting. Jalen Brunson scored 19 points but needed 16 shots and made only half his free throws. Mikal Bridges was the clearest concern: 6 points on 1-of-7 shooting and a minus-11 in 16 minutes. SB Nation reported that he is 16-of-52 from the field this season and that Brown benched him early in the third quarter, then closed with Shamet in his spot.
What it means for Wednesday against Chicago
The Bulls come to the Garden on Wednesday, November 4, a week after the Knicks won 133-127 in Chicago. SB Nation noted that New York needed 48 bench points that night, and Monday's comeback again relied on the reserves. After going 2-4 in the other six games, the Knicks have now won three of their last four. Brown also has a lineup decision to make if Bridges' shooting doesn't improve, and Shamet just made his case to start.
